Keys Hotels, a brand by Berggruen Hotels funded by Berggruen Holdings, a New York-headquartered proprietary fund has appointed Zahid Memon as director information technology, Lester Dmello as head of human resources and Apoorv Bhatt - as corporate chef, Berggruen Hotels.

ET had reported last month that the mid-market chain is undergoing a churn. with several senior staff members including the chief human resources officer, head of operations, corporate chef quitting the company.

The company's chief executive Anshu Sarin, when asked, had said that as in other organisations the employees are leaving for prospects elsewhere and that some of the exits are planned exits to meet the current and future needs of the organisation.

"With extensive experience in the hospitality and travel sector and their agile and competitive mindset, we are confident that all new members will seamlessly integrate into our system and prove to be valuable assets to the Berggruen family. We look forward to their contribution and work together towards our growth story and strategic vision in the years to come," she said.

Keys Hotels, funded by New York-headquartered proprietary fund Berggruen Holdings, was formed in September 2006. It currently operates in three segments - Keys Prima, Keys Hotels and Keys Lite.

The company had advertised for the post on head of operations on professional networking service LinkedIn about two weeks ago. It stated that the position involves "ensuring operational efficiency by directing all unit heads and establishing, formulating, defining and developing planned strategies to achieve organisational growth and profitability" .

Sarin said the company is adopting an asset-light strategy for growth and that the company is in expansion mode.

"As part of our expansion plans we have added new hotels and de-flagged some. We recently launched three new hotels in Calicut, Vizag and Jaipur. In the year ahead we plan to open seven-eight hotels under management contracts. Keys Hotels has seen a growth of 25% over the previous year," she said.

The company had earlier said that the property in Vizag will be owned while the other two will be franchisee hotels.
