Source: indiainfoline.com Mar 11, 2011
These international musicians will be invited to conduct workshops for creating new compositions, which will then be presented in public concerts.

Siddha Group, a leading real estate player, has announced today the launch of Live in Concert series, an exclusive musical chain of live concerts to revive the Indian tradition and culture of serious listening of 'live music' in auditoriums - the jalshas and majlishes of yore, where leading musicians from India and abroad will perform. These international musicians will be invited to conduct workshops for creating new compositions, which will then be presented in public concerts.

This will continue round the year, promoting all genres of music and musicians - Hindustani and Carnatic Classical, World Folk, Western Classical, Jazz, Fusion, World and New Age Music.

The concert series commences with AVTAAR, where 14 leading musicians from India and abroad are collaborating for a week, creating new compositions based on Ragas and Western Classical Music, to be premiered in 3 concerts, starting 11th - 13th of March 2011. This revolutionary initiative will be an exploration of celestial reincarnation by Grammy nominee Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya, the pioneer creator and inventor of Indian slide guitar, who has chosen the medium of divine celestial strings, his Trinity of Guitars - the Chaturangui, Gandharvi and Anandi, a family of new generation slide guitars.

Speaking on AVTAAR - Live in Concert series, Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya said, "I am pleased to be associated with the Live in Concert series which is presenting AVTAAR, a one of its kind world music ensemble where I'll share the stage with some of the world's eminent musicians. I have never believed in the East and the West in music. Universal Human Music is my faith and I believe that music in any form gives peace and joy to the music lovers"

Commenting on the launch of Live in Concert series, Varun Desai of Little i, producer of the event said, "This innovative concept aims at making Kolkata the music capital of the world.  We are lucky to have the support of the 100-year-old Calcutta School of Music and the Calcutta Classical Guitar Society who have given the city Asia's largest classical guitar festival in 2010. It is also expected that this will lead to more people having access to live

music in auditorium settings and in a multi-cultural matrix. Ultimately, this will bring about a greater awareness and love for music, the international language of peace and happiness."

In addition to the musical delight the concert will have two artists, Sudip Das and Babli Kesri, in residence who will attend some of the concerts and paint live in front of the audience. Their work will be auctioned immediately on the conclusion of the concert.
