Source: mydigitalfc.com May 25, 2011
The project, to be spread over 134 acres, will have a built up area of over 9 million sq ft
Tata Housing Development, one of India’s leading real estate companies with a portfolio of 45 million sq ft is now going to build its largest integrated township project in Gujarat, in partnership with Arvind Ltd, one of the largest integrated textile companies in India having revenues of Rs 4000 crore.

The project, to be located on the western outskirts of Ahmedabad, will be spread over134 acres, having an entire built-up area of more than 9 million sq ft. It is slated to be the largest township project made by Tata Housing and will include residential, commercial and retail spaces apart from a hospital, a school and other civic amenities. The project will be planned and designed to become a benchmark infrastructure project in Gujarat.

The project is being developed by Tata Housing through a 50:50 joint venture floated in partnership with Arvind. Brotin Banerjee, MD & CEO of Tata Housing Development, said, "We are proud to partner with one of the most respected business groups of India. As part of a long-term strategy, we are looking at establishing our presence in the emergent Tier I and Tier II cities. This partnership will help us tap onto Gujarat, an important market, for township projects, while being committed to our endeavor of sustainable development."

Kamal Singal, CEO, Arvind Real Estate, added, "Tata brings in immense credibility and Arvind with its 80 years legacy brings in immense amount of trust well-needed for the real estate industry. We look forward to setting new benchmarks in real estate product-quality and service-standards in Ahmedabad."

The mega sustainable integrated township project is being planned as a sustainable development project, to be approved by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), and will take into account all the key features of a Green Building.

"This large residential development will be an excellent example of green architecture and development and incorporate several green measures such as allowing ample day light into all apartments and reduce artificial light usage along with providing energy efficient walls, glazing and roof assemblies. The project will be designed with ample green and landscaped areas with native and adaptive vegetation to minimise water requirements. In addition, treated water shall be used for landscaping, toilet flushing and other cleaning purposes and apartments will be fitted with low flow but efficient water fixtures. Several green materials will be used that are also low-VOC. It will be a great example of how a green development can further enhance the quality of life, " said Rajeeb Dash, head of marketing, Tata Housing Development.

The township will also have sufficiently large centralised and accessible open spaces, club-house, self-sufficient segments with community spaces for socio-religious gatherings, neighbourhood retail spaces and more.

"The entire process of developing a project for Green Building certification under IGBC is based on multiple parameters like site selection, site planning, efficiency of water system, innovation in design, internal environment quality, materials, and energy efficiency, which we aim to achieve in this development," said Rajeeb Dash. "Also, the project will boast of about 85% open area surrounding the township," he added.
